What's in my Travel bag? - Summer edition

Hello everyone,

So as you may or may not know, I'm heading off to the UK for starting in London for a few days and then taking the train up to Edinburgh. I thought it would be very appropriate to show you what's in my travel bag. Slightly ironic as I haven't actually done a what's in my bag post yet, but I will get around to it! I will be scheduling some blog posts to be going up when I'm away so you lot won't miss out!

Urbanears headphones in coral - for listening to some chunes or anything else on my iPhone. ( or to block out wailing babies and chortling passengers)

Soap and glory hand sanitizer - travelling can get pretty yucky so I always have my Hand Maid to hand.

Bottle of water - always essential.

A lipstick/powder -  when I travel on long trips, my make up always slides off my face, especially in the heat, so I make sure you bring some with me so I can top it up!

travel wallet - something to keep all the necessary travel documents in order.

snack - I always have a snack with me in case I get peckish - yoghurt raisins and, Eat Natural bars are my fave!

notebook and pen - in case I have any bright ideas on the go!

good book - I'm currently reading the Book Thief and am dipping into of How not to write a novel (both are fab!)

Mini Tangle Teezer - I cannot live without my tangle teezer and this mini one is great for styling when travelling.

Compact mirror - to make sure I look as fab as possible when travelling! (haha, if only!). I love my cute bakewell tart pocket mirror featured in my recent haul.

GUESS Sunglasses - to avoid the dreaded squinting. (featured here!)

My Camera - to take pictures to share with you all on here!

I keep it all in here! My Topshop Luggage bag - which is massive! (and very hard to photograph!)

My gorgeous coral Urbanears - check!

I really hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what's in your travel bag!

OOTD: Downtown gal

Hello Everyone,

Today I have an Outfit of the Day blog post for you all. I wanted to put together quite an edgy look with a 90s vibe. I chose a red & monochrome theme with tousled locks, pink lip and a flower charm choker to finish it off. Think mischievous modern retro.

3/4 sleeve deep red top - Marks and Spencer
Pinstripe denim jeans - Marks and Spencer
Flower charm choker - a market in France
Teal/Gold bangle - Fair Trade
Birkenstock Madrid Sandals in White - Topshop

Rimmel 'Scandaleyes' waterproof thick and thin liner.
Soap and Glory cheek and lip stain.
Kate Moss 107 dabbed lightly on top.

I really hope you have enjoyed reading this post, make sure you let me know your favourite part of the outfit in the comments below.

Summer Essentials

Hello Everybody.

Today I am going to be sharing my top 5  summer essentials with you all. I'm going to be doing more of a beauty/fashion/lifestyle version of essentials; so I'm assuming you've already stocked up on high factor sun-cream and plenty of bottled water!

1. BB cream
BB cream is a beauty must have in summer as it not only offers lighter coverage but many come with SPF protection for those super sunny days. I love my Revlon Photoready BB cream (in the shade 010 Light/Pale) as it gives me really light and breathable coverage and at the same time covering and concealing any spots and blemishes. This BB cream also comes with SPF 30 which is a huge bonus as I burn so easily, not to mention the shade is a pretty good match for my ghostly skin tone! (take note pale girls!)

2. Sunglasses
I used to be very sceptical when it came to sunglasses as I always saw them as the cool fashion accessory for celebs and off duty models. Also having worn glasses for a huge chunk of my life I was in no rush to add any more to my collection! I recently went to TK Maxx and picked up a gorgeous pair of GUESS purple/burgundy winged sunnies. I never thought I could love a pair of glasses so much but when I tried them on, they suited my face shape to a T, I just couldn't say no! And as an added bonus, they have UV protection and were reduced down to €39!

3. Maxi Skirt
This is a very new addition to my summer wardrobe. Up until now I haven't owned a full length Maxi Skirt. I don't know why, maybe I thought that full length meant frumpy - how wrong could I be?! I spotted a gorgeous tomato coloured maxi skirt in M&S the other week and tried it on a the changing rooms and it looked even more stunning off the hanger. Maxi skirts are an elegant way to keep cool while adding a boho vibe to your outfit. They can easily be dressed down with a denim jacket and pool-siders and or up with a bralet and statement necklace. Trés Chic.

4. Cover up
On thing I always struggle to find during summer is a good cover up. Whether that be a kimono or
cardigan or long-line wrap, I can never find the right one. And if by some miracle I do, the price tag is always ridiculously high. I just can't find it in me to pay €60 on a very thin piece of cloth however fashionable it might be! (cough cough, River Island, cough) I have since discovered the bomber jacket, versatile, sustainable and looks pretty great too. There are lots available in gorgeous floral and vintage prints to destroy any masculinity it may carry and are ideal for wearing with dresses, jeans, jumpsuits - you name it, they've got it covered. (literally!)

5. Ice cream
I scream, you scream we all scream for - you've guessed it - ICE CREAM! There's nothing better on a hot summer's day than a delicious tower of ice cream to cool you down. My favourite flavour being honeycomb -mmm!  I also love sorbet, even perhaps a tad more than ice cream. It's just so refreshing and summery. What more could you ask for?

Just chillin'.

I really hope you have enjoyed this post, if you did definitely let me know in the comments and more importantly, let me know what you favourite flavour ice cream is!

New hair & mini haul

Hello Everyone,

I have recently had a good hard look at my statistics to help me decide which posts you seem to enjoy reading the most and the most popular by FAR is my Mini Shopping Spree post (linked at the bottom of the page) which unbelievably was one of the first blog posts I ever wrote! So I've decided to write a similar post today merging a sort of 'Day in the Life'-esque post with a mini haul!

On Thursday I headed into a nearby town to get my hair cut as I hadn't had it cut for quite a few months and nobody wants tired, bedraggled locks with split ends. Unhappy hair = unhappy me. So I went into the hairdressers and got an inch cut off and my layers trimmed and a blow-dry resulting in this!  A few people have asked me if I dye my hair and the answer is no I don't, my hair is naturally quite a reddy auburn. (#ginger) As I headed out of the shop a really nice American lady commented on how nice it looked! Happy hair = happy me. Saying that, I probably wouldn't go back as I did feel attention to detail was lacking e.g. no hot beverages were offered *shock, horror*. If I was a hair critic - which, by the way, I'm not - I would definitely be deducting points (on my special hairdressing points system). Now there's a potential career pathway if ever I saw one.

Tah Dah!

My mum had an appointment in the town and as I had some time to kill, naturally I explored the shops! Firstly I headed into this cute bits and bobs type shop (I don't think there's a proper category!) called Higgledy Piggledy (if only for the name alone) and picked up some super cute, if slightly expensive, things!

The first thing I got is this lightweight scarf. This caught my eye as soon as I entered the shop because of the striking lime green which I must say is probably one of my favourite colours! I tried it on and conveniently it matched my outfit, that and the super cute dragonfly print made it a must buy!

The next thing I spotted was this really sweet hanging wall sign. Whenever I feel down, I find inspirational quotes really helpful and uplifting and I felt this one was really relevant to me as I am such a worrier! It reads: "Don't let yesterday use up too much of today" on a cream distressed metal background with a yellow metal butterfly and blue metal flower. I thought it looked really pretty and would match my room decor perfectly so I popped that on the counter too.

Also I couldn't resist this adorable bakewell tart pocket mirror. ( my love for bakewell tarts knows no bounds.)

I then walked down the street and spotted a large chemist (Oh dear!) and decided to go in and 'browse' the make-up section. I was just scouring the Max Factor stand when my mum walked in with the line ' I knew I'd find you here!'. Turns out her appointment finished earlier than expected. So we then headed off to the Hotel by the river to have a quick bite to eat before heading home. But not before purchasing something from the cosmetics aisle! Recently my foundations/BB creams etc. have been really rubbing off and by the end of the day I'm left make-up-less. Facially naked is never a good look so, I decided to buy the Max Factor lasting performance foundation. It was not only the 'lasting' aspect but also the pale shade that really attracted me to it. It is so tough to find any base products for my ghostly complexion. I will be letting you know how I get on with an upcoming review but obviously I want to try it out a bit first!

The Beauty Scenario TAG

Hello Everyone,

I have been so so busy this past week so schedule has been a bit all over the place but hopefully now I'm back on track! Today I am going to be answering the questions of the Beauty scenario TAG created by beauty guru and vlogger Lily Pebbles. I really enjoy reading these on other blogs so I've decided to answer it on my own!

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?

Hmm this is quite an easy one for me as my go to drugstire foundation is the L'Oréal Match Perfection Foundation as it is one of the the only foundations that is just about pale enough for my ghostly complexion. I don't have many high end foundations that I have really enjoyed using so I think I would go with my Bare minerals Original mineral foundation as it comes in a really pale shade and great when I want lighter coverage.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?

This is tricky because although I wouldn't want somebody to have lipstick on their teeth, I certainly wouldn't want to offend anyone and mess up my interview! So I probably just try my best to ignore it!

3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?

I think I would probably go fr Kate Moss in 107 as it is a firm favourite of mine. Combined with some winged liner will make me feel like a 50s pin up!

4. You go back in time for one day to your early make up days, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?

Hmm I think I would definetely focus more on getting the right concealer and base before going into eyes and lips. I'd tell myself (through some time travelling telepathic field) to get a BB cream and stray away from anything orange! I think the mistake a lot of people make (I certainly did!) is have the 'all or nothing' attitude with make up. I would definitely do things 'poco a poco'.

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mum hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.

This sort of thing does happen to me a lot actually! (And I'm off to the hairdressers tomorrow which is kinda spooky!) I asked the hairdresser to blow dry my hair naturally with slight shape around the face and I guess she heard 'leave it to dry naturally'. Walking out of the salon with wet hair was NOT a good look. A) without a doubt. Needless to say I am not returning there!

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which ‘do it all’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?

First of all - what a fab friend! (tho' a bit more notice would have been nice!) It would have to be my Soap and Glory 'What's nude' palette I featured in my Pretty Drugstore make up look. This palette features 4 nude shades; 1 shimmer and 3 matte. They are easy to work with and go from day to night not to mention that it's drug-store so if the palette does smash on your travels, it won't be too expensive to replace.

7. Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?

Is this a thing now? Beauty thieves? (if so, where do I sign up?!) Ok well I would hope my collection lasting perfection concealer is safe because that is my go to make up product. Next would be either my They're Real mascara or Kate Moss lippy then I'd be good to go! (but still rather distressed)

8. Your friend borrows your make-up and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs

I would think that any of my friends would let me know and if they didn't then I would definitely say something (nicely mind) if it was someone I didn't like however then option C) would be on the cards *cackles mischievously*

I really hope you've enjoyed this post, I really enjoyed writing it. I hope to make TAGS a bit more of a regular thing like 'TAG of the month' or 'TAG Tuesday' or something fabulously original like that!
