How to: start a blog

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to be answering some of your questions about blogging and hopefully give you some advice on how to start up your very own blog.

Q- How did you get started?

A: I started by writing a little introduction on my blog (which is still there!) just telling my readers my name, my hobbies/interests and what I was going to be writing about. I also included a picture of myself. I think this is a great way to start blogging as it helps your readers to get to know you and feel like you’re talking to them as a friend.

Q- Where did the idea for itsmeniamhalice.blogspot.com come from?

A: It was all thanks to Instagram! Whenever I posted a picture of some new makeup I bought or the outfit I was wearing, I would get lots of comments asking about it. There was so many comments asking similar things, I wanted a way to answer all of the questions at once. I had seen a few other blogs before and thought it looked like a really exciting thing to do!

Q- How did you take your blog from idea to reality?

A: I didn’t actually know anybody that had a blog so it was quite a new concept to me. I asked my Instagram followers what they thought and they all said to go for it! I googled ‘how to start a blog’ and up popped Blogger. The colourful, user-friendly design of the site really appealed to me so I decide to click ‘Create a Blog’ and within an hour my blog was published on the internet.

Q- Where does the name come from?

A: If you hadn’t already guessed, my blog name is my first name – Niamh and my middle name –Alice with ‘itsme’ stuck in front of it! This wasn’t the original name of my blog though. It used to be called ‘theperksofbeingaquirk’ but I wanted something that was easier to type that also had my name in it, so that readers immediately knew who I was! I decided on ‘itsmeniamhalice’ and haven’t looked back since!

Q- What obstacles did you face along the way?

A: Getting the design of my blog right was tricky as I’m quite the perfectionist! Staying motivated can be tough because sometimes you don’t get the response you were hoping for. My advice would be to blog for enjoyment and not to please other people!

Q- What has been the highlight of itsmeniamhalice.blogspot.com to date?

A: Reaching 5,000 views was amazing. My favourite thing, is receiving nice comments and messages from my readers, telling me they enjoy reading my blog or watching my videos. That puts a great big smile on my face!

Q- Do you make any money from your site?

A: Not at the moment, no. As blogging and vlogging is just a hobby I don’t pursue any advertising opportunities. If I was to blog full time, as a career, then there would definitely be ways to generate income. I do, however get sent free products sometimes, to try out and review. Don’t set out to blog purely to make money because that’s not what it’s about.

Q - Did you need start-up money?
A: Nope! The brilliant thing about blogging is it’s absolutely free! You just need the internet and something to write about. If you wish, you can purchase blog templates and add-ons to change your design but as far as starting up is concerned, it’s completely cost free!

Q- What are your career aspirations for the future?

A: I would like to do lots of things in my career – be a Renaissance woman! I would love to have a creative job, writing or designing. I’m also really keen on becoming a children’s television presenter. I couldn’t work in an office, I’d just dance around and sing songs!

Q- What tips do you have for others who want to start a blog/vlog?

A: I would advise that you really prepare before you make a video or write a blog post. Nobody wants to listen or read somebody rambling! Also, check for spelling mistakes! I know I probably sound like your English teacher but trust me, there’s nothing more cringey than a blog post full of typos! Overall just be yourself, do what you enjoy and don’t let anything hold you back!

I really hope you've enjoyed this post, let me know if you have any other questions about blogging and I'll do my best to answer them!

The Disney TAG!

Hello Everyone!

Today I am going to be doing the Disney TAG because I feel you don't see enough of my Disney obsession! There are a lot of different variations of this TAG that are really rather long so I decided I would choose my favourite questions and answer them!

Favourite Disney movie?
Oh my goodness this is tough! I think probably the Jungle Book or Frozen!

Favourite Disney character?

Mike Wazowski!

The first Disney movie you remember seeing in the cinema?
I honestly can't remember but the first movie I remember seeing at home was the Jungle Book or Mary Poppins!

Your favourite Disney song?
WHAT?! Oh my goodness there are so many fabulous songs erm.. Part of your world, Under the sea, Colours of the Wind, Let it go, Circle of Life, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, Do you wanna build a snowman?,  I wan'na be like you, Spoonful of Sugar...(and lots more!)

What is your dream job at Disney?
To be a Disney princess of course!

Do you have a pair of Mickey ears?
Yes I do!

If you could, what "forgotten princess" would you add to the official line-up?
Meg from Hercules! She is definitely an official Disney princess in my books!

Your favourite princess dress/outfit?
Belle's dress is absolutely stunning!

 Your favourite Disney soundtrack?
Either The little Mermaid or Mary Poppins!

Your favourite "iconic" moment?
When Nemo touches 'the butt'.

What's the saddest moment for you in a Disney film?
The end!

Best Disney kiss?
Definitely Rapunzel and Flynn!

If you could live in any world from a Disney movie, which would you choose?
The Little Mermaid! I've always fancied having a tail..

If you could choose the plot/adaptation for the next Disney movie, what would it be?
Ooh I like this question, this is good! I would make it less cheesey and give it a few more twists. Perhaps a strong heroine that escapes her ordinary life into a world of her own imagination but then she gets stuck there. I'd watch it! ;)

"My house of sticks is falling down"

I really hope you've enjoyed this post, let me know your favourite Disney character/movie in the comments below!

I have also realised that I don't have a particular name for you all, like friends or readers so I've decided to call you Nymphs because that's my nickname! (Nymphs are like nature fairies btw!)

Soap and Glory Fabulipsticks ┃Review

Hello Everybody,

Today I've got a review for you all on the Soap and Glory Fabulipsticks.

I own two of these lipsticks now after being so impressed with my first one I went out and bought another!
There are six shades available. I chose Guavarama - a warm toned pink and Perfect Day - a plummy nude.
These shades are really complimentary to my skin tone and blend easily into my lips giving a natural finish.

Soap and Glory really delivered on the packaging giving a high end, luxurious feel. The lipsticks are easy to apply with a decent lasting power and feel lovely on the lips. Not to mention the shea butter making them smell good enough to eat! (please don't though!)

The Fabulipsticks retail at £9.00 or €11.50 which is quite expensive compared to other drug-store brands like Rimmel or Maybelline.

Despite the slightly pricey aspect, these lipsticks really are fabulous!
I would definitely recommend you pop out and grab one - I'm already hooked and I'm sure you will be too!

L: Guavarama R: Perfect Day
I really hope you have enjoyed this review, let me know what your favourite lip product is!
