How to: Survive School

Hello Everyone,

I am going to share with you my top 10 things to remember to help you survive your school days.

#1 exams aren't the be all and end all.

Despite what some people might tell you, exams really aren't the be all and end all. If you don't pass an exam or just the thought of doing one makes you squeal. Don't worry! You are not alone, thousands of people feel the exact same way. Exams are basically pressure tests, don't let them take over your life, it will get better!

#2 pleasing the 'popular crowd' is not important

Popularity seems to rank quite high in personality traits necessary to survive school. People that are popular tend to be people that just 'go with the flow' or 'follow the crowd'. Being able to stand on your own two feet without having a little posse echoing whatever you say is far more impressive.

#3 grade expectations?

Parent/Teacher pressure is never a nice thing to deal with. Even if they do just want the best for you, it is not right for them to pile pressure on to you so that your grades seem like they are all that matter. Encouragement is great and sometimes necessary and if you're slacking it is their place to tell to to concentrate a bit more. But telling you 'if you get straight As.......' or 'If you don't get straight As....' is not the right thing to do. If you feel you do need some extra revision ask a teacher during break and they might just be able to help (ps this does not make you a 'swat'.)

#4 Teachers aren't always right

Something you need to remind yourself is that teachers are humans too. And although at times they may seem like intergalactic monsters, their only intention being to guzzle on your guts (how cool would that be though?!), the reality is far from it.
Of course teachers are there to teach you so you can learn but it doesn't mean to say every word they speak is gospel. Teachers can make mistakes too.

#5 Be yourself

Always be yourself. Just because you have a personality and other people prefer to all be the same doesn't mean you have to change. It may seem the easy option especially if you are getting hassle but ignoring them is definitely the best method. If a reaction is what they want, don't give it to them.

#6 don't compare yourself to others.

He got a A and I only got a C! so what? Don't do the best do your best. Maybe your best is getting a B or a C. As I said, an exam is just to see how you work under pressure, some do better than others. It doesn't make you a better person. I can guarantee in 10 years time you won't still be crying over that grade result!

#7 Grow a thick skin

Nobody goes through life without having negativity thrown at them one way or another. Take everything people say with a pinch of salt. And try not to be over sensitive, because it won't do you any favours. (trust me - I know!) If someone says that your hair looks weird it doesn't mean they want to assassinate you. (Unless you've seen them walking around in a balaclava with a gun..then I'd stay out of their way..)

#8 Express yourself

Find something you enjoy, it could be dance, karate, playing the guitar, or even blogging! find a way to express yourself even if you can't express yourself at school.

#9 Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day

One of my favourite quotes ever! I know what your thinking 'don't be stupid, nothing good happened today'.  It doesn't have to be a monumental discovery just something. That girl you don't like found a worm in her apple? You saw something funny written on the bathroom door? Look for the good and you will find it, but look for the bad and you will find it too.

#10 Prepare!

Do not leave things to the last minute. Don't stay on the internet all night. Don't eat nothing for breakfast because you don't feel like it. I have a post on easy healthy breakfasts here!

February OOTD

Hello Everyone,

I am going to post my first ever OOTD! For those of you who don't know, an OOTD stands for an Outfit Of The Day. These pictures were also taken on my *new* camera so hopefully the quality is better than previous pics.

Today, I went to get some groceries with my Aunt and my Mum and we went out for lunch, so this is quite a casual outfit.

Denim Shirt - Marks and Spencer
Jumper - Dunnes Stores
Velvet leggings in the colour 'Grape' - Marks and Spencer
Shoes - Dr Marten
Hair Bow - From Santa Claus' Workshop in the North Pole ;)
Lipstick - Topshop 'Hazard' with Revlon lip butter in 'Tutti Frutti' on top.

I went for a messy up-do with this look and a red striped/lacey bow.

I kept the make up quite natural with a pop of colour on the lips to bring the whole outfit together!

I really hope you have enjoyed this post and that you like the idea of 'OOTD' posts and maybe even a look-book at some stage. If you did enjoy this, please tell me in the comments below or via my social media (which are the green buttons linked at the top of the page.)
Let me know if you would wear this outfit and what your favourite part is!

Until the next post,

Review | Maybelline Color Tattoos

Hello Everyone,

Today I've got a review for you all on Maybelline's Color Tattoos.

I own three Color tattoos at the moment; Pink Gold, On and On Bronze and Pomegranate.

My favourite would have to be Pink Gold as it's such an easy wearable colour and still looks super pretty.
I really like the packaging of the Color tattoos. It makes them easy to spot and gives them a unique look.

They have a super creamy texture that blends easily onto the eyelid. The best thing, for me, about these Color Tattoos is that they have great pigmentation and are so build-able.

Depending on how much you apply, the colour can be anything from a slight shimmer, to full on glam, making it super versatile.

The one downfall about this product is the price. Unlike in the UK, in Ireland, Color Tattoos are rather pricey, with Boots selling them for a whopping €10.49.

I wouldn't say they last all day on your lids but they still have a decent lasting power. For me, this isn't a major problem but if it was, this could easy be fixed by priming the lids prior to use.

I would really recommend the Color Tattoos and I definitely think they are worth the hype. I can't wait to get my hands on some more!

I really hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you own any Color Tattoos and what your favourite colour is! I also featured the Color Tattoos in my I Love Drugstore Make-up Tag post.

Valentines Day Style - what to wear?

Hello Everybody,

So as Valentines Day is very nearly upon us, I thought I would do a style post to give you some inspiration.

Whether you're going on a date, or out with friends, this look is perfect and works day to night.

Keep your outfit smart casual as it gives a relaxed feel while still looking like you made an effort. You can't go wrong with your best jeans, a pretty top and some statement earrings or necklace. Team with cute pumps or nude heels. Think classy not trashy.

How to be happy :)

Hello Everyone,

I've got a lifestyle post for you today and it is my tips on 'how to be happy'! I am going to share with you 10 tips on how to brighten up your day!

1: Say the word 'happy' 20 times out loud.

2: Create a dream world where only good things happen ( eg where you only eat marshmallows and ride unicorns and have tea with Harry Styles ) and picture yourself there.

3: Watch cats playing the piano on YouTube.

4: Go for a walk in the fresh air and when you come back write down one beautiful thing you saw on that walk.

5: Write down 5 things you like about yourself.

6: Listen to your favourite song (not a really sad emotional one though!) I really like listening to Happy by Pharrell Williams from Despicable Me 2 to lift my mood.

7. Watch your favourite film and eat popcorn (my fave being sweet and salty!)

8. Imagine that there is a bubble around you that protects you from everything and blocks out all the badness.

9: Cuddle your pet ( or teddy if you don't have one )

10: Allow yourself to be sad sometimes. If you're having a sad day, then that's okay, but you've got to have happy days too!

I know this was quite a short post but I thought it would be nice to just try and spread some positivity!

Let me know what makes you happy!

Until the next post,

I Love Drugstore Make-up tag!

Hello Everyone,

Today I am going to be doing the I love or *heart* drugstore make-up tag. For those of you who don't know, drugstore means lower end/more affordable make up that you can buy from a chemist.

There are 8 questions in this tag so let's get started!

1. What is your favourite make-up brand overall?

I love lots of different brands! I like Revlon and Max factor but my favourite would have to be L'Oréal as they have such great products in every field.

2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?

Hmm this is tricky!
My favourite face product would have to be the L'Oréal True Match foundation. It gives a nice amount of coverage with a dewy finish without being sticky or oily. It also has a GREAT shade range *take note Bourjois!*

My favourite cheek product would definitely be the Natural collection blushes. They are so pigmented and such good value. I also featured it in my Time to Blossom post!

My favourite lip product would have to be the Revlon Lip butters as they have a really nice glossy finish. They stay on for AGES and have lots of different wearable shades.

I also like the Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Collection.

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

3. Least favorite product?

Hm this is quite difficult as I usually throw out any products that I don't like ASAP! I would have to say any lipsticks in 'fake' colours.

Now what I mean by that is for example an 'orange' lipstick that turns out to be a vibrant salmon on your lips - just no.

A lot of brands do these lipsticks like Collection, Rimmel etc.

I also hate the no.17 Miracle Matte Foundation. That monstrosity made me look like an Oompa Loompa with an extreme tan! ''ivory'' it said..

I strongly dislike sharp painful eye-liner pencils too!

4. What is the best makeup bargain?

All of the Natural Collection products are such good value! I would definitely recommend you check them out!

Natural Collection 'Blushed Cheeks' in Peach Melba.

5. What is your favourite underdog product?
(Something you love that often gets overlooked)

I really like the No.17 lipsticks AND the Max Factor mascaras. I feel like they don't get enough hype from beauty bloggers and vloggers!

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?

The Maybelline colour tattoos in Ireland are over €10 and that's really quite expensive for a cream shadow. I'm a big fan of the colour tattoos but wish they were more affordable.

7. Your best drugstore dupe(s)?

I would say that Max Factor's false lash effect is a great dupe for Benefit's they're Real mascara. It gives, in my opinion, just as much volume!

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?

This for me is an easy one. The Wake Me Up concealer from Rimmel is just not for me. It made my under eyes look orange and definitely did not wake me up!

I really hope you have enjoyed this post, let me know your favourite drugstore products in the comments below as I would love to broaden my collection!

I will be doing individual reviews of some of the products mentioned too so make sure you stay tuned for that!
